My UltraCruiser Progress Log

Current build time - 0 hours

I plan on replacing the image of the UltraCruiser above with my own once I start building
(Last update - July 15, 2004)

The UltraCruiser is a legal all metal ultralight with an economical, reliable,
four stroke 1/2 VW engine and cruise speed upto 80 mph

(Must have throttle limiter to limit speed to 63 mph to remain ultralight legal in the US)

After spending weeks researching hundreds of various home built airplanes I have decided the Hummel UltraCruiser is the airplane for me!

I want to stick with an Ultralight class airplane for the time being and the UltraCruisers' all metal design is what really sold me.

I found a small airport (Sierra Skypark) that is only about 2 miles from my house that rents tie down space for only $35 per month. They don't have enclosed hangers so it was important to me that the design of my plane be weather and UV resistant.

Kilroy was here I'm a first time builder and am a bit nervous to begin what seems to be a huge undertaking and going against the advice of others, but I'm convinced I can pull it off. I set up this site to be a running log of my building from start to finish; who knows it may be helpful to someone out there in the future.

On March 24th 2004 I placed an order for Hummels UltraCruiser Video. Once I have received and watched it I plan on placing my order for the UltraCruiser Plans and Quick Start Kit.

If you live in the Central Valley of California and are interested in flying, check out Valley Ultralights. I joined in March 2004 and everyone has been great, and very helpfull!

If you are interested in taking Ultralight flying lessons just give me a buzz and I'll put you in touch with my instructor Bob Currie.
